Cuba!

Our trip to Cuba was amazing!   We posted the pictures on Facebook, so instead of going through them again, here are the links to the albums, I hope they work!  It was a great adult only trip and the kids enjoyed their time with Grandma and Grandpa Fisher.  On the day we got back to Connecticut, I found out I was pregnant with baby #3 and spent the rest of the summer dealing with morning/all day sickness for the first time. The rest of the summer was very low-key with Ethan and Lillie spending a lot of time in the backyard with Daddy. Good thing the trip came first!

Lillie's Birthday

Lillie recently had her second birthday party. We are so glad so many friends and family could make it to celebrate with us. We were excited to have Grandpa and Grandma Fisher were able to come up from Maryland to spend the whole weekend with us too. Here a few pictures from the party:
The delicious cake that my brother Matthew made, seriously the best cake I've ever tasted! Just wait to see the inside!

A few colorful decorations via pinterest.

Lillie couldn't wait to eat the cake, she kept going up to it to try to eat. She had a hard time sitting down to eat the fried turkey, congris and other goodies we had for dinner.
She just wants to dig in!
Isn't the inside gorgeous?
Everyone enjoying the cake :)
She finally got to dig in!
Lillie did not want to open her present, in fact she screamed and cried when we took her away from playing with her friends and cousins. Her cousin Cindy was more than excited to see what was in the gift bags.
She really loved her new kitchen!

Thanks everyone for making her second birthday special!

Lillian Sophia Turns 2!

I can't believe our little girl is 2 year old already! Here are some things we love about her:

She loves to dance.  She say, "dance, dance, dance" and expect us to put music on to dance to. She loves to wear her tutu and wave her wand around.  She even tries to lift her leg up like a ballerina.

She is a talker, she is always asking "wheres the ___?" with her hands out, palms raised. Where's Ethan? is another frequently asked one.

She can be very dramatic. When we tell her to do something, she will pause with a dramatic sigh and then say "oh...okay" Her temper tantrums can be magnificent. Who knew you could get so upset over which shirt to wear?

Speaking of clothes, if Lillie had her way she would change outfits several times a day. Every time we turn around, she is stripping down and looking for a new outfit to wear.

She loves to accessorize.  We never know what she is going to put on and how it she will do it.  She loves her little purses.

She loves to sing, we never know what she is singing, but she loves to drag out the endings with a very loud voice.

She likes to watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Diego, and Curious George.  We just showed her the original Care Bears recently and she is in love.  Her face lights up and she squeals when she hears the care bears theme song.

She likes everything to be clean.  She will throw out things when she is done, when she eats a banana, she peels the whole thing, throws the peel in the sink and then eats it.  She is always picking up toys and putting them away.

She is a climber. We've found her on top of Ryan's dresser trying to feed his fish.  She learned to climb up the ladder on the swing set the day we got it when she was 18 months.

After bath time she plays the same little game. We wrap her tight in a towel and pick her up.  She'll ask, "Where's my hands?" And then proceed to pull her hands up to the top of her towel near her chin.  When one pops up, she exclaims, "Here it is!" and does the same for the other.  Its like its a big surprise when her hand pops out.

She is a good mommy to her dolls. She wraps them in blankets, tries to feed them and gives them lots of kisses.  She has even picked up Ethan's utensil and tried to feed him when he didn't want to eat what we were having!

She is very particular with the dolls that can sleep on her bed with her each night.  She gathers them all up, selects the ones for her bed and puts the others in their place around the room. Don't try to sneak one that's not allowed on her bed, she will know and let you know you are wrong!

She loves to give us kisses during the day, one on each cheek.  But at bedtime she plays hard to get and tries to get out of giving us a kiss!

She is good at taking naps, she will lay in bed and most of the time I don't even have to shut the door. When she wakes up, she will come down the stairs and peek through the bannister with a big smile until you notice her.

She is a great eater.  She will eat just about anything.  Her favorite right now is broccoli. She loves to eat off Daddy's plate and is always digging into his tacos.  I think its great she likes spices and bolder flavors than I do!

She loves to look at books and to be read to. Her favorite right now is There was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly.

She is one tough cookie, having a big brother like Ethan has gotten her used to rough play.

She likes to give hugs, but often if it is a little kid, she ends up knocking them flat on the floor.

She is growing every day, at her two year check up  she weighed 23 lbs 13 oz and was 34.75 inches tall.  That puts her at the 31st percentile for weight and 63rd percentile for height.  No more bottoms of the charts for her!

She is beautiful, we love her curls, smile and little dimple.

We sure do love our precious little girl!

Halloween

We had a great Halloween. With Storm Sandy approaching, we were a little worried about a repeat of last year, but other than a power outage that lasted less than a day, we were in the clear. On the plus side, school was canceled on Ryan's birthday!

Lillie loves Mickey Mouse and Ethan said no scary faces on the pumpkins, so we decided a Mickey Mouse pumpkin was the way to go. Neither of them like scooping out the goop.

Lillie got bored pretty quick, but Ethan wanted to help with the knife.  I think it came out pretty good!
For Halloween, Ethan wanted to be a superhero.  When I asked him if he wanted to be Superman, he said, I'm not superman, I'm Ethan.  The same for Spiderman, Iron Man, etc.  He has this thing about not wanting to be being called anything other than Ethan. So Superhero Ethan was born.  After a few tries bleaching the shirt for the Super E, I finally got it to work.  His cape has a lightening bolt on it because he is super fast.
Lillie didn't get a say in her costume this year, I picked it up last year on clearance after Halloween.  She was thrilled with the fairy costume though and tried to wear it every day!
Their candy haul. They went trick or treating at a local nursing home, with our playgroup and around the neighborhood. It was fun to trick or treat several times, but now they don't realize that Halloween is over.  Ethan keeps asking when he gets to go again!

Ryan turned 30 on the 30th and Ethan was determined to make him a cake. Luckily the power came back on in time for us to bake one for him.  Ethan decided it had to be a fish since Daddy likes his fish tanks.  Ethan helped decorate it, I think it came out pretty cute!

Pumpkin Patch

Back in October we headed out an a beautiful day to the local pumpkin patch to pick out our pumpkins.
Ethan thought he found the perfect one, turned out it was rotten on the side.
Maybe this is the one.
Lillie found one she liked
Ethan's finally got the "one"
It had rained a lot before we went, so while the patch was dry, a lot of the pumpkins were rotten and squishy. Lillie went up to everyone looked it if was rotten, smelled it and said, "awe man, its stinky!"
She loves wearing her rain boots!
We took a ride on the tractor to and from the patch.

It was such a nice day that we decided to hike up to Heublien Tower.  Turns out it was their annual Tower Toot fundraiser, so the place was packed. We had the ergo in the car to carry Lillie in, but Ethan had to walk the entire 2.5 miles there and back.  He was a champ and only got tired at the very end. Lillie fell asleep on Ryan's back on the way down. Ethan heard us say it was the Tower Toot (no idea why they call it that) and apparently he was looking forward to hearing the tower toot as he is obsessed with telling us when he toots.  When we got to the tower, he was very disappointed. Now when ever he sees Heublien Tower as we are driving around town, he says, "There's the tooting tower!"

A view from the top

Ethan is starting with a fake smile when I ask him to smile for the camera.  He has such a beautiful smile, I need to find better ways to get a natural look..
Finally a picture of all of us including baby #3!
Lillie getting a snuggle with Daddy before she takes off again.

We had a great family day and ended it with burgers at Five Guys.  Doesn't get better than that!

Flamig Farm

In September we went to Flamig Farm where they have a petting zoo. We did a living social deal for the tickets and ended up with a ton of animal feed.  Ethan and Lillie loved running around, though Ethan was definitely more wary of getting close to the animals.

Lillie was trying to make the sound a goat makes, though it sounded more like a lion's roar. She was hilarious the entire trip, she loved every minute of it!

This horse was huge! Ethan ran away when the horse got close. After Ryan and Lillie fed the horse, we noticed a sign on another fence that said do not feed the horses.  Oops!

Ethan's preferred way of feeding the animals, stand back and just throw/pour the feed on them.
Don't they just look like they love being together?
 Here is a happy girl!
Not so happy not that her brother is with her. It is impossible to get them smiling together, I promise they really enjoyed going to the farm!

Vermont

We went to Vermont over Labor Day weekend. We headed up Saturday morning and our first stop was at Garlic Festival. We got plenty of garlic to plant and spent some time with my cousin who had a booth there. Ethan and Lillie got to play around with my cousins kids.
They had lots of garlic food to try, we stuck to the basics like garlic bread and skipped on things like garlic ice cream and garlic lemonade.  The kids wanted ice cream but the line was long and by the time we got it, Lillie had fallen asleep! So I helped myself to hers :)

We spent the night at my parent's place with them, Rebecca and my nephew Jack.  The next day we went to the Vermont State Fair before heading home.

Who wouldn't love to climb up on all the John Deere toys?
Lillie was very into studying everything she saw
They had lots of farm animals to pet.  Ethan wasn't so into petting them, but he did pay a lot of attention to their poop.  Probably because he was finally potty trained a week or two prior to the trip.

They had a raffle for 50+ kids bikes so we went, we didn't win one, but Jack went home with a new bike!

They had an exotic petting zoo there too. Lillie was fearless trying to feed all the animals.  Ethan was very cautious, a big change for him, he is definitely growing up!
