Lost phones

On Saturday Ryan and I went to Cheesecake Factory with my family. It was pretty good minus the over an hour wait for a table for the 10 of us. Afterward I was headed to the mall with my mom while Ryan drove back my dad and brother. Halfway there, my sister calls saying that a person found Ryan's phone and called her saying that she would be leaving at the Barnes and Noble customer service desk. Apparently when Ryan was running to the car (it was raining) it fell out of his pocket. His phone is tough - he broke his new one that he got last summer and has been using one that he's had since we got married. It survived the fall and the rain and is still working!

A little while later while I was still at the mall trying to find a dress for my baby shower, I also lost my phone! This time though, my dad called it trying to get a hold of my mom and he was very confused when someone other than me answered. It fell out of my bag in the dressing room and sales clerk heard it ring. He then called my mom's phone (thank goodness he tried my phone first so that we knew it was lost!) and told us to go back to the store to pick it up at the register. I've also recently broke my phone and am using an old one. So we learned a lesson that day, there are still good Samaritans out there OR our phones are so old and out of date that no one wants them!

Vermont

I know it was a while ago but....
For Columbus Day weekend, my family always goes to our place in Vermont. Ryan's only been there in the summer and I haven't been up there for Columbus Day in over 10 years. Ryan recently bought a book that outlines the best places to take photos in Vermont, so we were all set for a photography weekend! We left right after school on Friday with Ryan and I deciding to drive the back roads while my parents and my sister's family took the highway. We drove through some really cute New England towns and saw some great fall foliage. Even though we took the back roads, we still beat the rest of my family by about an hour! On Saturday we went to Art in the Park in Rutland (where I got a cute new bag for my birthday from my parents-only 3 months late!). Afterward we broke off from my family (they went antiquing) Ryan and I drove down the the Danby/Mt. Tabor Loop in southern Vermont. Ryan took some great pictures, though he almost killed me insisting that we hike down the the river. Going down was fine, but I thought I would never make it back up. It definitely gave me the motivation to get rid of any extra baby weight after our little one makes his appearance!

Sunday we got up early to get some early morning shots. Later we went to The Vermont Institute for Natural Science. Its a great little place that rehabilitates birds. If the bird is recovers enough, they are let go. Some though are badly hurt and will never be able to released into the wild again. They had a program where they brought out several birds and let them fly among the visitors. One even flew away and into the woods. They weren't worried though because they said they always come back.

Monday we had to go back to the real world. Again we took the back roads so that we could stop along the way. We also stopped at my cousins house in Vermont to stop and get some baby stuff that she no longer needs. We couldn't do much because Ryan still had to get back and plan for the week. The long weekend was a nice break from our daily lives.
