The pumpkin patch

We finally made it to the pumpkin patch. I had wanted to go earlier in the month in case our little girl showed up early, but life got in the way. She still hasn't arrived, so this morning we set off to get a pumpkin.

At the Pickin Patch we took a hayride out to the pumpkin fields.  There were tons of pumpkins to choose from. You can see Heublein Tower is in the distance.  I wanted to go hike up to it afterward, but Ryan said he's not ready for the baby to come and didn't want me hiking up the mountain.  He's lucky we didn't have the stroller for Ethan or else I would have gone for it, I'm ready for this baby to come out!

It took a while for Ethan to get interested in the pumpkins. At first all he wanted to do is run over to the big digger at the edge of the fields.

Actually, the only time he was interested in the pumpkins is when he could throw dirt on them.

He was a very dirty little boy including dirt on his face on the ride back.

After we got back, we got ready to carve the pumpkin.  Here is hopefully the last pregnant shot of me!

Ethan surprisingly did not like scooping out the pumpkin guts.  Ryan had to do it since I don't like to either.  After it was all cleaned out, Ethan took the scooper and pretended scoop out more.  He would even shake the empty scooper each time he took it out of the pumpkin.  He still managed to get quite messy.

 While Ethan napped and Ryan mowed the lawn, I was in charge of carving the pumpkin.  Here is the final product.  Ethan loves it and got mad when we blew out the candle.  The three of us had a great time today but we can't wait to be family of four!

The new crib and other pictures

A while back I picked up a crib that was on the side of the road near our house.  The owner was outside and said it was in good condition and it didn't have a drop side so I wouldn't have to worry about recalls.  Since Ethan's crib had been recalled because of the drop side I had been looking for a new crib.  The company that made Ethan's crib is out of business so there was no fix for it.  I took the crib home and checked for recalls just in case and was surprised to find out it had been recalled for a different reason.  This company however, was replacing all their cribs for free! I mailed in all the screws and support pieces along with the model number sticker and received a voucher to Babies"R"Us within a week.  We have yet to buy any furniture for our house, its all what we have been given or gotten from freecycle so we have never had many options before.  It took Ryan and I quite a while to agree which style and color wood to get.  But now we have a brand new crib, not bad for a side of the road pick up!

When Ryan gets home from work, Ethan often wants Daddy to read him a story.  I love that Ryan will do that first, before even changing into more comfortable clothes.

Ethan used to be terrified of the vacuum, so I would have to do it when he was sleeping or outside with Ryan.  Now he loves it and always wants to take over. Here is he when he took over vacuuming under the couch cushions.  Ethan actually did quite a good job cleaning up all the cheerios and cracker crumbs!

We got a beanbag the other day to replace the glider that I moved to our bedroom since our little girl will be in our room for awhile. Ethan loves reading on his new beanbag. He wants me to sit with him and read to him but its getting harder and harder to get out of the beanbag!
