Ethan in the mud

Now that its getting warmer out, Ryan has been working on his garden after work.  Ethan loves to go out and work with Daddy.  Ethan always ends up in the swampy area next to the garden. Ryan wants to put in a pipe to allow it to drain properly, but until then we have a happy filthy little boy!

Easter

We had a great Easter Sunday. It started out rather early now that Ethan has figured out how to get out of his room  even though there are two baby gates, one on top of the other, in his doorway. We went to church, where we learned its not a good idea to sit with the cousins, Ethan was just too excited.  After enjoying his Easter treats, both he and Lillian went down for an early nap before heading over to my Dad's cousins house for a delicious dinner.  Ethan lucked out with another Easter egg hunt there with lots more chocolate!

The sky cleared up long enough for the Easter bunny to visit outside and leave eggs filled with Ethan's favorite Hershey kisses! He is getting really good at saying chocolate.

Once he came back inside, he found the Easter bunny left him a few more treats including a Thomas the Train book and DVD. The Easter bunny couldn't find a good deal on a basket that would fit all the goodies, but don't worry, the Easter bunny is on the hunt for a great deal on two baskets in order to be prepared for next year!

Granny was blessed to have all her great-grandchildren together this year.

Now for the 4 generations picture.  It was hard to get everyone looking, hopefully one of the other cameras caught a better shot.

I realized that I never got a picture of Lillian in her Easter dress.  I tried to get a picture of Ethan and Lillian after Ethan got his Easter goodies, but he was only interested in more chocolate and she was tired and cried in every shot. So today, I dressed her up again!  She would not keep her shoes on, she just wanted to chew on them. She also tried chewing on her shrug. I'm sure if she could figure out how to get the flower headband off, she would have chewed that too!

Once the shoes and shrug were gone, she finally looked at me. She is just too cute, I love dressing her up!

Maryland for Spring Break

Ryan still had a spring break despite the ridiculous number of snow days this year so we went to Maryland. We got to visit with a lot of Ryan's family. We were also excited to meet our new nephew Zachary for the first time. We mostly stayed at the house since the weather was not cooperative but we made it to the National Zoo one day where Ethan had a blast.

 Ethan got to play his Uncle Austin's drums for a little bit.

Once we got back to the house, Ethan had just as much fun playing in the backyard.  So much for trying to get out and do things, he's happy anywhere.

On Tuesday we went to the National Zoo.  It rained on and off which worked in our favor. Less people and the animals were out and more active than we have seen in the past.

The peacock was strutting his stuff for a female peacock. He even did a funny little dance, shaking all his feathers! It looked impressive to us, but apparently it wasn't good enough. The female took off and headed towards another peacock.

Can you believe she is already starting to sit up? We think she is a cutie! The last day there, the weather was gorgeous. Too bad it wasn't the same back home while Ryan and I were trying to expand our garden.

We enjoyed our visit and can't wait to see everyone again!

Outside

The weather is finally warming up for good.  So yesterday we spent a lot of time outside.

 First we had to get dressed.  Ethan put his new boots on as soon as we got up. His friend Ollie has these same boots so at first he called them Ollie's boots and refused to wear them.  Now he loves them and wants to wear them all day. Its always a fight to get the pjs off and clothes on.  Yesterday I got the pjs off but couldn't get him dressed quick enough.  He ran away and put his boots back on and tried to go outside!

 Once we will all dressed with the boots over his pants, we took a walk around the neigborhood.

The lake is about 5 minutes away and I always walk past it and then stop at the small beach on the way back.  Ethan is now realizing that we walk by it much earlier in the walk and is quite vocal about stopping.  He loves the beach. Earlier this week while I was trying to adjust Lilly in my mei tai, Ethan flipped the stroller over trying to get out! He has been good about staying out of the water...until today. The geese in the water and a very wet dog was just too much temption. Those boots came in handy, its a good thing he insisted on wearing them!

Lilly and I hung out on a blanket in the shade while Ethan ran around the yard after his nap. Lilly loved watching the branches move in the breeze.

It was easy to take Lilly's picture (Ryan will probably complain I took too many), Ethan on the other hand never stayed still! I finally managed to catch him eating a cookie we made together the day before.

Lilly is 5 months!

We can't believe that Lilly is already 5 months old.  She is growing so much and is finally outgrown most of the 0-3 month clothes. She really is a peanut! She is consistently rolling over and often sleeps on her tummy.  She loves to roll to her tummy. She is starting to sit up and has been able to get to a sitting position while on the boppy pillow. She is getting very good at grabbing things, everything from the chicken off of Daddy's plate to the book I am reading to her and Ethan.  Of course everything she manages to get a hold of goes straight into her mouth. She already has Daddy wrapped around her finger.  Lilly usually is fine sitting in her seat in the kitchen while I make dinner.  When Daddy comes home, she gets fussy because she knows he will hold her.  Every night Daddy eats dinner one handed while he holds her on his lap. She is back to mostly sleeping through the night after a rough month.  She is still not consistent when it comes to napping during the day. Lilly lights up when she sees Ethan. His newest thing is to show her how he jumps. She laughs so hard every time he does it. They have taken baths together a few times. It works out great, Ethan is content to watch her kick and splash and she makes a lot less of a mess than when he is kicking and splashing around!
